Fantastic Itoigawa Juniper Bonsai Tree

This is a great little Juniper bonsai tree ready for refinement work. Once the work has been completed this will be a top quality specimen worthy of a spot on any collectors bench. The tree is incredibly healthy and growing very string. Itoigawa are very sort after and one of the most popular Juniper species used for bonsai. It grows very tight compact foliage in a relatively short amount of time. The tree has X2 shari, one on either side of the trunk and 1X Branch shari that looks great. The cambium has rolled in nicely giving it a very mature and natural look. It also has a fantastic jin on the front. Junipers like this are iconic and usually the type of bonsai people think of when they hear the word bonsai. The tree is planted into a lovely round Erin Bonsai pot. This was another tree destined for our personal collection but we really need to make some space so we are letting this little gem go.

This tree sits about 11 inches above its training pot and is about 13 inches wide. The root spread is about 4 inches at it's thickest point. The pot measures 9 x 2.5 inches.

Cultivation Notes

- This Outdoor bonsai tree needs to be placed outside all year round. It needs the cold of winter to become dormant and have a rest period.

- This bonsai likes to be kept a little drier than some other species. Allow pot to dry somewhat between watering and never keep too wet.

- This is an evergreen bonsai meaning it doesn't shed all of its leaves during the winter months.

- September / October White Pine Bonsai shed previous years needles. They turn yellow and fall. this is perfectly normal and a good tine to give the bonsai tree a clean up. Only worry if needles on the tips of branches turn yellow! Previous years needles are further back on the branches.

- This bonsai is frost hardy
